PRA Launches GIS Express™ Service

November 5, 2002
For Immediate Release

San Diego, CA - November 5, 2002 - Photon Research Associates (PRA), a pioneer in the development and application of physics-based modeling, simulation and analysis products and services for the remote sensing industry, announces the launch of a new service, GIS Express. GIS Express makes it easier to find, price, and purchase geospatial data. "PRA is extremely enthusiastic to announce the release of an exciting new generation of commercial remote sensing services that have been brand named GIS Express™," says Jim Myer, founder and CEO of PRA.

"GIS Express provides a single entry point for remote sensing users to access archived data from all of the major commercial imagery vendors as well as the ability to task their collection assets." John Rasure, PRA Senior Vice President, who is responsible for launching GIS Express, explains, "The commercial remote sensing industry is expanding as more satellite and aerial providers offer new and different products. This competition is healthy for the industry but it is becoming more difficult for consumers to be aware of all the latest archive coverage, new acquisition alternatives, product features and prices. Our goal is to be the largest broker of geospatial data in the industry.

"PRA has unique master distribution agreements with the major satellite and aerial imagery vendors allowing us to offer the lowest prices available to end users and to support its own Authorized Reseller network. "Our resellers and vendors appreciate the efficiency that we are bringing to the market place by being a one-stop shop," says Eric Waldman, VP of Sales. "As the commercial market expands, customers are becoming more frustrated and are looking for a single person to call to help them find the optimal product. "The GIS Express one-stop shop ecommerce system is planned for release in mid 2003. "Our service will organize and present diverse geospatial data products in a unified format that makes obtaining and viewing imagery both intuitive and simple - you just click your mouse and away you go," adds Jim Myer.
